Odoo Implementation in Coimbatore: Editions, Cost and Process

Key Takeaways
- •Odoo comes in two editions: Community is open source with no licence fee; Enterprise is a per-user subscription paid to Odoo.
- •At ICore, Odoo implementation starts from ₹75,000 per module; the Enterprise licence, if you choose it, is separate.
- •Most of the value is in configuration and customization for your process, not in installing the software.
- •GST e-invoice, e-way bill, weighbridge, biometric and IndiaMART connections are set up as part of implementation where you need them.
Odoo is one of the most widely used open-source ERPs: a single system with apps for CRM, sales, purchase, inventory, manufacturing, accounting, HR and more. Installing it takes an afternoon. Implementing it, so that it matches how your business actually quotes, buys, makes, dispatches and bills, is the real project. This guide explains the choices a Coimbatore business has to make, what they cost, and how ICore runs an Odoo implementation.
Odoo Community or Odoo Enterprise?
Odoo is published in two editions, and the choice changes your cost from the first day:
- Odoo Community is open source under the LGPL v3 licence. There is no licence fee; you pay only for implementation, hosting and support.
- Odoo Enterprise adds Odoo's proprietary apps and features on top of Community, and is sold as a per-user subscription paid to Odoo. With ICore, this licence is charged separately from our implementation fee.
Many small and mid-size businesses run well on Community with a few custom modules. Enterprise makes sense when you need an app that only exists there, or you want Odoo's own hosting and support. We list the apps you need first and check which edition covers them, so you do not pay for users and apps you will not use.
What Odoo implementation includes
ICore follows the same five steps on every ERP project:
- Requirement analysis. We map how each department works today: who raises a quotation, who approves a purchase, how stock moves, how invoices go out.
- Configuration and customization. Odoo apps are set up for your workflows, user roles, approvals and reports. Where the standard app stops short, we build a custom module.
- Integration. Odoo is connected to the systems around it: GST e-invoice and e-way bill, payment gateways, biometric attendance devices, weighbridges, IndiaMART or your website.
- Testing. Each workflow is tested end to end with your own data before anyone relies on it.
- Deployment and support. The system goes live with your masters and open transactions migrated, and we stay on for fixes and changes.
Odoo customization: where most of the value is
Standard Odoo covers the common case. Businesses in Coimbatore's manufacturing, engineering and trading sectors rarely are the common case. Typical custom work includes:
- Quotations calculated from a bill of materials, so the sales team quotes from real material and labour costs.
- Separate quotation formats for different product lines, such as pre-engineered building (PEB) quotations.
- Weighbridge readings captured straight into goods receipt and dispatch, instead of typed in by hand.
- Biometric attendance flowing into HR and payroll.
- IndiaMART enquiries pulled into the CRM and shared out to sales staff in turn (round robin).
- Department-wise approvals and dashboards that match your organisation chart.
These are the kinds of integrations we built for GK Industries, one of our manufacturing ERP clients.
GST e-invoice and e-way bill in Odoo
Odoo has an Indian localisation for GST. For most Coimbatore manufacturers and traders, connecting it to the government systems is part of the job:
- E-invoice: businesses with aggregate annual turnover above ₹5 crore must generate e-invoices for B2B sales, registered on the government's Invoice Registration Portal, which returns an IRN and a QR code. Since 1 April 2025, businesses with turnover of ₹10 crore or more must report each invoice within 30 days of its date.
- E-way bill: needed for moving goods worth more than ₹50,000 in one consignment. When the ERP generates it from the invoice or delivery, nobody retypes vehicle and value details on the portal.
What Odoo implementation costs
ERP implementation with ICore starts from ₹75,000 per module, and a module typically goes live in 3–4 weeks. A module is one business area, for example CRM and sales, purchase, inventory, manufacturing, accounts or HR and payroll, set up for the way you work. On top of that:
- Odoo Community: no licence fee.
- Odoo Enterprise: Odoo's per-user licence, charged separately.
- Integrations and data migration are scoped in the quote, because they vary the most between businesses.
Most businesses start with the two or three modules where they lose the most time, then add the rest on the same system.
Odoo, ERPNext or custom ERP?
| Odoo Community | Odoo Enterprise | ERPNext | Custom ERP | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Licence fee | None | Per-user subscription, paid to Odoo | None | None |
| Source code | Open source (LGPL v3) | Proprietary modules on the open core | Open source (GPL v3) | Built for you |
| Built with | Python, PostgreSQL | Python, PostgreSQL | Python, Frappe framework, MariaDB | Chosen per project |
| Best when | Standard apps fit, budget matters | You need Enterprise-only apps and Odoo's own support | You want a full ERP with no licence cost | Your process does not fit a standard ERP |
Odoo is not the only good choice. If you want a full ERP with no licence cost in any edition, read our guide to ERPNext implementation. If your process is unusual enough that you would fight a standard ERP every day, a custom ERP can be cheaper over its life.
